Thank God for the Blood of Jesus

“And the blood shall be a sign for you…” — Exodus 12:13

As the world paints Easter in pastel hues and prepares baskets of candy and egg hunts, there’s a deeper and more eternal celebration echoing in the hearts of believers—a celebration not of bunnies or chocolate, but of crimson.

The Blood of Jesus.

It’s not just a theological concept or a seasonal reflection. It is the very heartbeat of our faith. The blood poured out on Calvary was not ordinary—it was divine, perfect, and powerful. It didn’t just stain the wood of a Roman cross; it soaked into the foundation of redemption itself.

What Makes the Blood of Jesus So Powerful?

The Bible reminds us in Hebrews 9:22, “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” In the Old Testament, the blood of animals provided a temporary covering for sin. But it could never cleanse hearts or restore intimacy with God. That would require something greater.

Jesus, the sinless Son of God, became that greater sacrifice. His blood was not inherited from man—it was divine, unstained by sin or corruption. At the cross, the innocent died for the guilty. And through that sacrifice, He didn’t just offer us forgiveness; He gave us transformation.

This Easter, may we remember not only the empty tomb but the price paid before the stone was rolled away. The cross was the payment; the resurrection was the receipt.

“With His own blood… He secured our redemption forever.” — Hebrews 9:12

Why Should Christians Be Thankful for the Blood?

1. It Paid the Ultimate Price

“You were bought at a price.” — 1 Corinthians 6:20

We were slaves to sin, destined for death. Jesus stepped into our story and paid the price with His blood. He didn’t owe the debt—we did. But love made Him pay it.

2. It Set Us Free

“In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins…” — Ephesians 1:7

From guilt to grace, from bondage to freedom—the blood of Jesus breaks every chain. It whispers to every sinner, “You are no longer what you used to be.”

3. It Gives Us Peace With God

“He made peace through the blood of His cross.” — Colossians 1:20

We are no longer at war with heaven. Through the blood, we are welcomed into fellowship—reconciled, redeemed, and restored.

4. It Covers and Protects

“When I see the blood, I will pass over you…” — Exodus 12:13

Like the Passover lamb in Egypt, Jesus’ blood shields us from judgment. It marks us as God’s own and declares us protected and preserved.

5. It Gives Us Access to God

“We can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” — Hebrews 10:19

The veil is torn. The way is open. Because of the blood, we don’t come as strangers—we come as sons and daughters.

The Power of the Blood of Jesus Is still At Work To…

  • Justifies—Romans 5:9
  • Cleanses—1 John 1:7
  • Sanctifies — Hebrews 13:12
  • Heals — Isaiah 53:5
  • Overcomes—Revelation 12:11
  • Seals the New Covenant — Luke 22:20
  • Draws Us Near — Ephesians 2:13
