Have you ever pondered what you would do if you could accomplish the impossible? Perhaps it’s a divine calling, a long-held dream, or an insurmountable challenge. As believers, we’re called to be great and have achievements – but more importantly, we’re called to embrace the impossible through faith in God’s unlimited power.
This power is described in Ephesians 1:19-20, where the apostle Paul wrote, “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead….”
This verse reminds us that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work within us, enabling us to accomplish what seems impossible in human terms.
In a world that often tells us to play it safe and limit our expectations, we as believers are called to a higher purpose. We’re not just meant to achieve greatness by human standards, but to tap into the unlimited power of God to accomplish what the world deems impossible. This blog post will explore how we can trust in God’s power, learn from biblical examples, and step out in faith to achieve the seemingly impossible.
Understanding God’s Unlimited Power
Throughout history, people of faith have recognized God’s desire to work beyond human limitations. He doesn’t just call us to do great things; He calls us to do the impossible. This truth is echoed in Scripture, reminding us that nothing is too hard for our Creator.
“Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You” (Jeremiah 32:17).
Facing Seemingly Impossible Situations
Life often presents us with situations that appear hopeless – financial crises, health issues, or relationship struggles. In these moments, it’s crucial to shift our perspective. Instead of asking, “What am I going to do?” we should turn to God and invite God into it, “Asking the Lord to intervene” This simple change invites God’s infinite power into our finite circumstances.
Lessons from Biblical Faith
The Bible offers contrasting examples of faith that can challenge and inspire us.
Example of Jesus in Nazareth: Jesus couldn’t perform many miracles in His hometown due to their unbelief (Mark 6:5-6). This highlights how lack of faith can limit God’s work in our lives.
Example of the Roman Centurion: Jesus was amazed by a Roman centurion’s great faith, who believed Jesus could heal his servant with just a word (Luke 7:9). This shows the power of bold faith.
These stories prompt us to examine our own faith. Are we limiting God’s work in our lives through unbelief, or are we stepping out in bold faith?
Asking for the Impossible
To experience the impossible, we must ask for it. James 4:2 tells us, “You do not have because you do not ask God.” When was the last time you asked God for something seemingly impossible? Our prayers and actions should reflect our faith in God’s unlimited power.
Consider Peter’s bold request to walk on water. He not only asked but also took action by stepping out of the boat. This demonstrates that faith often requires us to move beyond our comfort zones and take decisive steps.
“And Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.’ So He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus” (Matthew 14:28-29).
Removing Our Safety Nets
To truly experience the impossible, we must be willing to let go of our safety nets and trust God completely. Many biblical heroes had no backup plans – they relied entirely on God, often in situations where the outcome was uncertain.
Hebrews Chapter 11 is filled with examples of people who relied entirely on God, often in situations where the outcome was uncertain. These stories inspire us to have the same level of trust and dependence on God.
“If God is your partner, make your plans big and impossible,” said D.L. Moody. This challenges us to dream bigger and trust more fully in God’s capabilities rather than our own.
A Word of Encouragement
Every person in life is faced with life challenges, one way or the other, but as you face your own impossible situations, remember that you serve the God of possibilities. He specializes in turning hopeless circumstances into testimonies of His power and love. No matter how dire your situation may seem, nothing is too difficult for Him.
Take a moment to reflect on this truth: The same God who created the universe is working on your behalf. “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).
The apostle Paul beautifully articulates this in Ephesians 1:19-20:
This verse reveals an astounding truth: the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work within us. When we truly grasp this concept, our perspective on what’s possible dramatically shifts.
Learning from Biblical Examples
The Bible is replete with examples of ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary feats through faith in God’s power. Let’s examine a few:
- Moses parting the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22)
- Joshua commanding the sun to stand still (Joshua 10:12-14)
- Gideon defeating an army with only 300 men (Judges 7:7-22)
- David defeating Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45-50)
- Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:29)
These stories aren’t just meant to inspire awe; they’re meant to show us what is possible when we fully trust in God’s power.
Today, I encourage you to step out in faith. Ask God for the impossible. Trust Him with your dreams, your challenges, and your fears. Remove all the limitations you’ve placed on life, of what God can do in your life.
Remember, faith doesn’t require you to understand how God will work; it simply calls you to believe that He will. Your circumstances may not change immediately, but as you trust in the God of the impossible, you’ll find strength, peace, and hope that surpass all understanding.
So go forth with boldness, knowing that the God of possibilities is with you. He is ready and willing to do exceedingly abundantly above all you could ask or imagine. Your impossibility is His opportunity to showcase His glory. Trust Him, step out, and prepare to be amazed by what He will do!
